Goal Setting Tip: How to Hold the Power of Your Intention

Before our ideal lifestyle can make an appearance into our reality, we must envision it and believe that it’s already ours.

Abraham Lincoln said:

“To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all, but to believe in the unseen is a triumph and a blessing.”

I have come to know from my own personal coaching, that our ability to think beyond our circumstances is not exercised. As kids, we are taught to stop daydreaming, pay attention and to “get real.” Our imagination is literally trained out of us, and it is one of our ‘superpowers.’

You may have heard that our subconscious mind does not know the difference between a vividly imagined reality or reality. So, if our imagination is one of our ‘superpowers’ why not experiment with this…

Create, in your mind’s eye, a clear and precise vision for what you want (As you visualize what you want to happen, think about, imagine pretend you’re in the picture – looking out to your ideal life through your own eyes.)

Take a piece of paper and divide it into three columns: BEING – DOING – HAVING. Write down how and what you want to BE, what you want to DO, and what you want to HAVE in your life. It’s important to put the How you are going to accomplish what you are wanting on hold. At this stage, it’s important to define the What you want.

Visualize your future self-being, doing, and having what you want as frequently and vividly as possible.

The important step, not to leave out: Take a step in the direction of your dream. Take action each day to move toward your vision. Baby steps will get you up Mt. Everest.

Pretend as if it has already occurred. (Fake it ’til you make it.) The next step is to develop your vision with emotion, passion, faith, and belief.

Strengthening belief in yourself and in your vision is imperative for goal achievement. No one’s ready for what they want unless they believe they can acquire it.
